DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

because love should never hurt...

Our national philanthropy is domestic violence awareness and locally we support this cause with our work at The Compass Center right down the road in Chapel Hill and with A Lotta Love. As an issue that affects women all over the world, we believe it is important to work together to fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships. We seek to serve individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through fundraising at our annual Mini Golf Tournament in the spring and Alpha Chi Olympics in the fall, as well as sharing gifts of time and talent locally. All members of our chapter receive Compass Center training and also have the option to take a child care training course to provide care for children at the center when needed.

1 in 4 Women will fall victim to domestic violence at least once in their lifetime...and as real, strong, women, this is a cause close to our hearts and one that we work with throughout the year to support.

Alpha Chi Omega also works to educate our members and the UNC community, giving them tools to build their own healthy relationships and to raise awareness about domestic violence with our Love Is... campaigns during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October and Healthy Relationships Week in February.

In addition to our dedication to this cause, we support our members in philanthropic endeavors through countless other organizations on campus. These include: Relay for Life, Carolina For The Kids/Dance Marathon, Camp Kesem, the Eve Carson Scholarship Foundation, Freedom Global, and Bike to Uganda, just to name a few.
